Home Radon Testing Logan Circle

Radon is a radioactive gas that comes from the decay of uranium, which is found in nearly all soils. The gas can seep through the holes in concrete at the foundation and get trapped inside the home. Without proper treatment, radon can spread through your home over time and eventually lead to lung cancer. In fact, according to the United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), radon is the number one cause of lung cancer among non-smokers, killing about 21,000 people a year. The only way to know about your home’s level of radon is to conduct a radon test.

There are a two ways to conduct a radon test:

  • Short-term radon tests: Consist of taking air samples from inside the home during a 2 day period.
  • Long-term radon tests: Consist of taking air samples from inside the home during a 90 day period

The amount of radon in the air is measured in “picocuries per liter of air,” or “pCi/L.” A radon level of 4 pCi/L or higher should be reduced. Within 24 hours of the completion of the radon test, you will be provided with a comprehensive report describing the radon level.
